At some point we need to start ignoring the courts.

If the immediate pressure campaign triggered by this doesn't convince Kavanaugh to realize what conservatives are getting into with this & flip to join Roberts & the liberals, & this draft opinion does actually end up panning out as the law of the land, then this very well could be for the Democrats in the midterms what Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been for NATO.

And ISTFG, if Manchin & Sinema won't finally vote to end the filibuster, at least on a bill to just do a Lilly Ledbetter & statutorily codify Roe, then what good are they even for? We have to assume that we only have the majority for 8 more months. Use it, f**kers! This, if NOTHING else, is what it's f**king for!!

Goodbye integrity of the Supreme Court if this is at all true. Now blue states are going to have laws like gun restrictions overturned, and they'll just shrug it off. "Mr. Alito has made his decision; now let him enforce it." And, prosecutors and DA's across the country have already said they will outright refuse to enforce any bans. Abortifacients will be as easy to obtain as any other drug. Nice going, assholes.

Also, big boost for Democrats heading into November this year and 2024. Expect to see this covered endlessly, and the ensuing "unintended" consequences and horror stories.

Not sure about this being a boost for Democrats, but I agree with everything else.

Gerstein says the opinion as written appears to swing for fences on overturning Roe. It is not a walk back or a soft pedal or a chipping away. The opinion emphasizes that is is limited to abortion only and the conclusions regarding privacy should not be applied to other areas like gay marriage. There are specific phrases and passages that show the handiwork of the 5 justices believed to be on board. There appear to be nothing in it to address Roberts's concerns regarding the integrity of the court.

Huh? Alito is talking about reversing Lawrence!

This is a leak of a document written in February, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. But If this is the real opinion they'll be releasing in a few weeks, Praise the LORD. This is not only the legally correct (When you take all the politics out of it, there is no right to abortion in the constitution. It simply isn't there. We invented it in 1973, and have only kept it around this long for public opinion concerns, which is not a legally appropriate basis for Court Decisions.) but also incredibly life-saving Decision. It's also a balanced decision that doesn't threaten Griswold or try to define personhood. It simply leaves abortion to the states. Maryland can allow abortion in the 9th Month, as their laws currently do. Texas can ban it completely if they choose. For the first time in nearly fifty years, people will not be told by a court what to do about abortion, but instead to determine the appropriate destiny for each society through our democracy. And they will remain able to prevent implantation via contraception.

I don't much care who this helps electorally. What I do find praise in is the strengthening of our democracy and the saving of lives that this decision would bring.

Also, if it's all true - Gorsuch, I was wrong about you. I still don't really get why you gave this answer, but glad to see you are actually pro-life. https://youtu.be/Z08EdjHJgoI

Women will die, but I guess that's okay with you as long was we protect the blob of cells.

So, isn't abortion still going to be legal in blue states?

For the short/medium term, yes.

Great. Now, abortion should be banned federally from the moment of conception with exception only for the life of the mother.

Blue states won't enforce those laws and will dare the feds to make them. Straight up

Can you explain to me why you are not for exceptions in the case of rape?

I'd argue that pro-lifers who support rape exceptions are logically inconsistent.  If you think that an unborn baby is a life of equal value to that of the mother, the circumstances in which he or she was conceived do not matter.

So I guess the woman gets violated multiple times.

Giant middle finger to every Trump supporter. The same to anyone who didn’t vote for Hillary.

You are responsible for this, even if you are pro-choice.

The Supreme Court was one of the best parts of Trump’s legacy

Middle finger to you too

Won't a lot of these bans be mostly ineffective since most cities have Democratic DAs who aren't going to enforce any bans?
