It’s not like we didn’t say this would happen. So begins the era of culture wars 2.0 and I’m betting it’s going to be even nastier than the last one.

Absolutely horrendous, and the Court has just surrendered its last ounce of legitimacy.

Maybe we'll hold the Senate after all.

As someone who doesn't really have an opinion on abortion, I'm getting the popcorn right now.

The legally correct result, sadly enough.

Well, if it's 5-4, not advancing Clarence Thomas to a full floor vote might have made the difference.

At some point we need to start ignoring the courts.

Oh, who am I kidding?

I'm certainly not naive enough to think that this will be any sort of deus ex machina for the Democrats in November, but is it naive to think that it could actually have an appreciable impact? Minimizing the electoral damage at least a little bit? I'm not sure.

By the way is no one else going to discuss the fact that there was a leak at all?

Maybe its a liberal clerk trying to get Kavanaugh to face public pressure/bullying?

Maybe its Breyer?

Ignore what? SCOTUS is the one blocking any law restricting abortion? Are you saying just ignore abortion laws?  Is Joe Biden going to send in the feds to stop red states?

To be fair, the Supreme Court destroyed its own legitimacy on 12/12/2020.

As a progressive, and as a devout Catholic Myself, I prefer REGULATED ABORTION. Yes. Regulated. Why ?

Abortion is not a right. Nor should it be illegal ( People will still have abortions anyway ).

What should happen is what many countries in Europe have done. Regulate it. A medical service, after serious consultation with one's doctor. Having these steps will hopefully calm things down a little.

Perhaps 12 weeks limit ? And let it stay there.

I'd be willing to bet good money this draft opinion is 6-3, and thus not giving Thomas a hearing is moot.
