So state agencies are banning birth control now?

So does this mean that all the people who support a ban on abortion practice the rhythm method of birth control? But isn't that also a method of birth control and thus, should be banned? Should all the women (and girls) just have as many babies as pop out of them after having sex? Maybe we should ban sex. No more sexually transmitted diseases. No more abortion worries. Sounds like the only way to stop all the controversy.

They probably want to ban sex outside of marriage.

But let's be honest. How many of the people who support banning abortion and banning birth control don't have sex outside of marriage? I mean, come on. Are they so righteous that they don't have sex outside of marriage? I doubt it. More like they are hypocrites.

With child brides and nontrivial resistance to bestiality laws, things will get very weird in some of these states.

Who will be #16?  Will South Carolina get its act together?  Will Georgia strengthen its heartbeat bill into an actual life at conception law?  Can we prevail in court one of the four Western states with unenforced bans on the books (AZ, UT, MT, WY)?  Maybe Ohio or Iowa?  Also, we face challenges holding in North Dakota (where the law is technically on hold, but there are no providers) and Wisconsin in the coming months.

My understanding is that a 6 week law is like 90% of the way toward a total ban, while a 15 week law is like 90% of the way toward Roe/Casey based on the distribution of abortions by length of pregnancy.

It's true that the vast majority of abortions happen after 6 weeks, but we have a test study of Texas from September 2021 through June 2022, and my understanding is that abortions were only reduced by 50-60% during that period with a heartbeat bill but no ban.  Some abortions that would have been later happened pre-heartbeat.

Abortions aren't being reduced, theocrat, they're just being done in unsanitary environments by unqualified individuals with minimal to no equipment.

That is the reality you're fighting for. Back alley coathanger abortions.

Mastriano has been a disaster of a candidate. I've been doubtful until now that this wouldn't be anything but a relatively close race, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did indeed lose by double digits at this rate. He is going to perform terribly in the Philadelphia suburbs.

My Aunt was telling me today about a local Pregnant woman whose been driving in the HOV lane on US-75 since Roe was overturned and was given a ticket for doing so. She's been pulled over more than once since then apparently and is going to court to contest it since her fetus is now a second passenger according to the state of Texas.

Pretty damn based if you ask me.

I-75 doesn't go anywhere near Texas.

Another thing I’ve been thinking about- will this election determine whether the pro-choice path forward is full gas on electoral politics or a new path towards civil disobedience is needed to an extent.

It's definitely going to get worse before it has any hope of getting better (apart from Michigan, I suppose). This election is only the beginning, especially in terms of ballot initiatives. I expect the flood gates to open on that for 2024 (and possibly 2023 for states that allow it). However, in many states (including most of the South), that method is unavailable. This map shows where some of the first major battles will be fought in terms of ballot initiatives. I expect the most prominent states to be Arizona, Ohio, and Florida (though Florida is complicated with its 60% threshold requirement). However, there are a lot of states if you look at the swath from Montana and the Dakotas and down through to Mississippi (although Mississippi itself effectively doesn't have an initiative process anymore due to a technical issue).

So barring a huge cultural shift in the next couple of years, abortion should become generally available throughout the western half of the country.

Hmmm...

Bans easily repealed/prevented by constitutional amendment: OH, MI, MO, NE, SD, ND, MT, AZ, NV

Ambiguous because the referendum is only a law that can be repealed/edited by the legislature: UT, ID, WY, ME if Republicans eventually take control there

Ban might reasonably be sustained in a referendum: AR, OK, FL (they would have to get >60% support against a 15 week limit, which seems like a stretch)

Would any of our strongly anti-abortion posters be so kind as to tell us whether they approve of this?

If she dies, her blood along with the blood of so many other woman and young girls dying due to Roe’s overturning is on the hands of every single person who cheered that decision on. Despicable.

Let's be frank. Every single goddamn one of them thinks this is an acceptable sacrifice to enforce their religious View that life begins at conception and stopping termination of pregnancy after 15 minutes let alone 15 weeks. The extent of their concern over this woman is nothing Beyond sanctimonious "thoughts and prayers".

Being facetious here but just stop having sex and problem solved. I wonder if the righteous ones and the religious ones and the irrational thinkers would like that...and I'm talking about men who think this way, and the misguided females as well. Cut down on the population and also the social services needed for low income folks.
