A GREAT Senator (one of my top 3), but not presidential material.

I like him, but doesn't he have some ethics issues?

Not my favorite on the issues, but not terrible. Both the ND Senators voted for cloture on Alito. Strangely, Dorgan voted FOR the Iraq war, and AGAINST Alito, while Conrad voted AGAINST the Iraq war, and FOR ALITO. Dorgan has a better voting record than Conrad.

He's a good, even-keeled bureaucratic sort of Senator...but that doesn't really add up to a great candidate.

He's a good senator. I think Bayh would be a better candidate and he has more votes from Indiana.

Haha, there's currently something funny on his wikipedia bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Dorgan

I'd edit it out, but it's funny, and it makes whoever put that in look bad.

I could see him as a VP to Lou Dobbs or Brian Schweiter. Schweiitzer and Dorgan both have a nice tone to their voices. Something about the Northern accents. Would Dorgan be a potential democratic VP?

I don't think he'd want to be VP. Dorgan strikes me as more of a legislator than an executive.

"when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, of which he was a member from 1981 until 1992 (being re-elected every two years)."

No...really?

One of them flips a coin and the other does the opposite.

Ooo, I strongly agree with Conrad on both issues.

Probably hurting him more is that no one knows who he is. He is to the left of Bayh, and only slightly to the right of Biden.

Whats wrong with populism? opposed to corporatism or elitism, and serving special interest.

Yeah, we can't have any liberal elites, like anti-Patriot Act Senator Tester who made $20k a year farming in Montana.

Looking at that 'on the issues' site, it was just about impossible to tell that guy is a Democrat.  Kent Conrad is just as bad but doesn't look like as much of a total asshole.

do you think he may run in 2012? If he ran as an independent he could apeal equally to both sides. even though he is a dem, is views are in line with Ross Perot who was accused of taking votes away from the GOP.
