No need to unnecessarily alienate Erdogan in these times. What he asks for is more than reasonable.

LOL, it absolutely is not reasonable.

Doesn't matter. Turkey calls the shots in the end. If they say no, it's a no - and they're far more important to the alliance than SE + FI ever could be.

Just [you know what] this guy at this point. Can we trade Sweden and Finland for Turkey?

No, because we're not [you know what]-ing stupid.

1) From a strategic perspective, Türkiye >>> Sweden and Finland. It's not even close.

2) Stoltenberg has already declared that the Turkish concerns are perfectly legitimate. And he is right. The extent to which PKK terrorism is condoned by many Europeans is disgusting.

The 'let's prioritize Asia' argument is of course stupid (and I don't think that Hawley seriously believes in it) but he's right about European NATO members spending way too little on their militaries.

How does one go about kicking a country out of NATO? Is there even a mechanism for that?

There is none.

And it would be ridiculous to expel a member state (especially one as important as Türkiye) just because it does not agree with the others on expanding the alliance. No country is obliged to agree to that.
