Finnish and Swedish NATO accession has been ratified by [assuming royal assent will be given in constitutional monarchies]: Albania, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Germany (needs Presidential assent), Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

The Lithuanian Seimas is scheduled to vote on the 13th, 12:15 for Sweden, 12:25 for Finland. (That is, if I'm understanding the google translation of tomorrow's agenda correctly. Finnish and Swedish NATO accession may only be submitted tomorrow and voted on the next day the full Seimas meets, the 19th.)

The Latvian Saeima is scheduled to vote on the 14th, 09:00.

The Croatian Parliament is scheduled to vote on the 15th, 12:00.

The Polish Sejm has already voted in favor 440-1-1 on the 7th, the Senate is scheduled to vote on the 20th, 11:00.

Things seems to be going fast. We've reached the halfway mark, with 15 countries having passed NATO expansion (only 9 have officially notified the US, though): Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, and the United Kingdom.

I haven't found anything about Hungary or Turkey planning to vote.

July 18:

President Rumen Radev of Bulgaria gave assent.

July 20:

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies voted 227-0-3 and the Senate voted 94-0, the same for both Sweden and Finland.

The Polish senate voted 96-0 for Sweden, 98-0 for Finland.

The Lithuanian Seimas voted 112-1 for Sweden, 111-0 for Finland. President Gitanas Nausėda on the same day.

The Belgian Chamber of Deputies voted 121-11 for both Sweden and Finland.

July 21:

The French Senate voted 323-17-8 for both Sweden and Finland. The National Assembly is planned to vote on August 2.

July 22:

President Klaus Iohannis of Romania gave assent.

President Andrzej Duda of Poland gave assent.

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg gave promulgation.

The situation in Italy might also throw a wrench into things. I'm not clear if a dissolved parliament still has the power to ratify treaties, so we might have to wait until October before we see any action on that front (and even then, you could see potential opposition from parts of the right-wing coalition if they control the next parliament, especially Lega). This is really terrible timing all around.

Surprisingly, the Chamber of Deputies (according to this wikipedia source) is planning to vote on August 1.

The Czech Chamber of Deputies is planning to vote in "late August".

The Portuguese Assembly is planning to vote "in September".

Today (July 27), the North Macedonian Assembly voted today 103-2 for both Sweden and Finland:

And one day later, Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski gave assent: "The ratification of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO confirms our support for the open door policy.

The expansion of the Alliance with both countries is a contribution to the collective security of the Euro-Atlantic region."

The Montenegrin Parliament voted yesterday (July 28th) 57-3-11 for Finland, 57-2-11 for Sweden. I guess Dejan Đurović didn't feel it was worth voting against Swedish NATO membership. As you'd expect, all the members who voted "PROTIV" appear to be Serb nationalists.

The US Senate is scheduled to vote on August 1st!

Evidently the Italian National Assembly is voting tomorrow and the US Senate isn't voting today, but lol:

Seems pretty serious. I thought the Swedish strategy was going to be to make optimistic noises in the expectation that Turkey would keep delaying, but only until after their 2023 election.

I think at this point they should hope for a change after the 2023 election. I remain skeptical that Erdogan will actually be defeated leave office inspite of hyperinflation, an economic crisis and some Erdogan fatigue in Turkey. Relationships would certainly improve with a president from the CHP.

The main issue with hoping for change following the election is that the main opposition leader Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been jailed for calling members of the High Election Board "fools" (yes, seriously that's all he said) for canceling his March 2019 Mayoral victory. He won the June 2019 rerun, anyway. But the point is that, since opposition victories in the 2019 municipal elections, the government has been doing anything it can do hinder his chances of victory over Erdogan.

https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20230105-turkey-s-bickering-opposition-seeks-unity-against-erdogan

"The troubled fate of Istanbul's popular mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, one of Erdogan's most internationally recognised rivals, highlights the opposition's plight.

A court banned him from politics last month for slander in a case stemming from his 2019 victory, which was initially annulled.

Imamoglu can keep serving as mayor while the appeal process winds its way through the courts.

But a separate interior ministry probe against his office on "terrorism" charges threatens to sideline him sooner.

The twin cases make Imamoglu's candidacy extremely risky for the opposition, despite polls showing him beating Erdogan in a head-to-head race."

FSB investment in the dude who burned the Quran is paying off big time. I just realized that the guy who did it is Danish. Why isn't Erdogan mad at Denmark too?
It's almost like this is a convenient excuse to not support Sweden joining NATO.

At this point I have to imagine that Erdogan either never intended to let Sweden in, or is waiting on some secret concession from the US before moving forward. Obviously this is still a great pretext for him to latch onto.
I mean, just last week he said Sweden needed to hand over 130 "terrorists" (PKK members). It's not like Sweden was ever going to do that.

“First of all, they need to extradite nearly 130 terrorists in order for their bids to pass our parliament; unfortunately, they have yet to do this,”

Hungary to send delegation to Sweden, Finland over NATO bids

"Some ruling party lawmakers, he said, resented that “politicians from these countries have insulted Hungary in a crude, unfounded and often vulgar manner in recent years, and now they are asking for a favor.”"

Hungary PM says more talks needed on Finland, Sweden NATO bids

"Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday that more parliamentary group talks were needed before lawmakers vote on the ratification of Finland and Sweden's NATO membership bids which they will begin debating on Wednesday."

Erdotroll is feeling gracious, Finland accession impending.

The vagueness of the anonymous statements from Turkish officials has me very suspicious. "Turkey's parliament will "highly likely" ratify Finland's NATO accession bid before mid-April."

Hungary has repeatedly used similar vague time frames "in the fall", "early next year", "around February" and still hasn't ratified the NATO accession of either Sweden or Finland.
