If Harris falters (as I suspect is inevitable) there is a lot of room on the center-left for a new face. Think Whitmer, Polis etc.

Manchin's the kind of candidate who might well run against Harris in 2024, as he's really got nothing to lose, since he's almost certainly going to lose reelection anyways.

Manchin probably retires if D's lose the S and probably stays on if the Ds are in control, he is talking retirement but I don't expect him to retire if we net gain seats but would in event of Majority Leader Mcconnell, because if is Leading Morrissey in the polls but if Majority Leader Mcconnell is in charge he would be disadvantage against Morrissey, he's not running for Prez because Biden already said he is running

Manchin would do horrendously in a national primary. Limited fundraising and he's actively despised by a pretty large contingent of the Democratic base.

I also don't see him doing it since it would bring attention to things like his daughter's role in the Epipen price surge and that weird grad degree scandal at WVU

Harris ran for Veep because she wanted to be Prez not just Veep so the only person that can beat her is Eric Adams or NEWSOM whom both maynot run

J.B. Pritzker is a better option than all these if the Dems would like to avoid completely humiliating themselves.  I wouldn't even support Bernie if he was oblivious enough of the world around him to run again and any chance AOC had to brand herself more of a working class activist rather than just another liberal Democrat rockstar is shot to sh**t.
