Democratic Caucus Founding Speech in Alexandria, MO

Hello, Alexandria!

As I stand here with the Mississippi River to my back near the Southern border with Fremont and Lincoln I say that any citizens who wish to flee the burden of authoritarian rule and unjustly declared martial law are welcome in this region. As an at-large Senator and a patriot, I want to see prosperity and peace for all of our citizens, whether Southerner, Fremonter, or Lincolnite. Unfortunately, some bad actors are intent on raising tensions to put fear into the population to encourage political support for themselves. This continuing course of action is totally un-Atlasian and a disgrace to our founding fathers.

I am forming this caucus, the Democratic Caucus of the Federalist Party, to bring attention to this unfortunate turn of events.

Anyone is welcome here, including observer members from outside of the party (just mention your affiliation in the thread, please).

This caucus stands for the following things:

Respect for Democracy

The members of this caucus believe in democracy and our democratic republic. We believe in respecting the results of Atlasian elections even when we disagree with them.

Civility

The members of this caucus believe in civility in government and among candidates for office. We believe in debating in good faith and talking with our political opponents about common ground that we share. We believe in multipartisanship.

Responsible Government

The members of this caucus believe in a responsible government that takes care of our most vulnerable and most deserving—from the poor to the disabled, to the elderly, to our nation's veterans. We believe in responsible government spending and electing representatives who respect and uphold the rule of law and the Constitution. We support electing representatives who dutifully carry out the business of government while allowing every voice to be heard, even those we disagree with.

I will be the acting chair for this caucus and call for elections to the caucus leadership once we have a few members (if that happens).

The caucus bylaws are as follows:

1. 72 hours shall be allotted for caucus votes and all caucus members at the start of the vote may vote. Caucus members will join this caucus in this thread (or wherever the caucus may be commanded from in the future). The caucus chairman/vice-chairman may extend the vote, in total, by up to 10 days.

2. The caucus chairman or the vice-chairman in the absence of the caucus chairman may hold votes on caucus business. Caucus businesses/offices shall be voted on as necessary or as supported by caucus members.

3. A caucus chairman and vice-chairman will be elected. A caucus whip and/or secretary may be elected at the discretion of the chair if the caucus is large enough to warrant those positions. The caucus chairman may not dismiss caucus officers at will. The caucus chairman/vice-chairman will allow for 72 hours for (self-)nominations when caucus officer elections are needed to be held.

4. Caucus officers who are inactive on the forum for forty days (who haven't logged in in that time) or who fall off the rolls in Atlasia will forfeit their position.

5. Caucus elections including platform changes will be voted on using approval voting for caucus business for which the vote is not a simple aye or nay vote (e.g., elections to caucus offices). A snap election for platform changes, to challenge a caucus endorsement, to force an election for one or more caucus officer posts, or for any other caucus business may be called at any time by the consent of 1/4 caucus members.

6. Voting caucus members shall be automatically endorsed by this caucus unless a majority votes to withdraw the endorsement.

7. Caucus members shall not be mandated to vote the caucus line when it comes to voting on legislation (for officeholders) or voting as a citizen in elections. Alignment with the caucus's platform is recommended for Federalist members but not required.

8. A 3/4ths majority shall be required to expel a member of the caucus for egregious actions or words which strongly contradict the caucus's mission.

9. Observer members to this caucus from other parties or from Independent party affiliation shall be welcomed. Discourse is encouraged in this caucus and caucus observers (and non-observers) are welcome to speak on the floor but not to vote on caucus business or to officially motion for a vote on caucus business.

Thank you, Alexandria, and may God bless you!

Thank you for your comments, Senator. They are duly noted. I will also note that this caucus represents itself as a subsection of the Federalist Party and not the Federalist Party as a whole.

Statement on the April 2022 elections at the Kansas Federalist Party Democratic Caucus HQ in Topeka, KS

Good morning, folks!

Thank you to all of our campaigners, staff, and the voters who made this outcome in the elections possible. Our caucus was graced with electoral success in the elections which have just concluded. Caucus member and Senator Cao won re-election as did I and caucus member Spark won election to the Southern Chamber of Delegates.

We will continue to work hard for the Atlasian people and to pursue multipartisanship and civil discourse in government. Thank you, Topeka, and thank you, Atlasia!

Opening the floor for 72 hours for suggestions (which will be voted on) for a caucus logo, motto, and official caucus color.

I am also nominating Federalist Orange-Red as the caucus's official color.
