Why is a General Discussion board about a political LARPing game relevant and why do opinions on a fantasy state government's fantasy ruling for a fantasy event apply here?

Its an appeal to authority from this "liberal" individual.

For the record, I endorse the bill in its current form.

We have a "gentleman's agreement" on regional abortion laws. I don't see why we can't apply the same principle to firearm regulation. Instead of proposing new federal gun bills every session, just let the regions make these decisions. If Lincoln wants strict gun control policies, fine (although Mr. R and and others might take a slightly different view, but are hopefully willing to call a truce). But Frémont and certainly the South might prefer a different approach. If nothing else, it's better for the game.

Senator Muad’dib’s amendment is a great compromise on this issue and I hope this bill passes so we can finally put the issue to rest.

Before we move further I just want to, belatedly, point out that the alleged sponsor is no longer in the Senate and has not been for nearly a month.

Someone feel free to sponsor this.

I motion to sponsor in its current form and object to the previous set of motions that are being made out of order.

Not sure this can be done when we’re in the midst of a final vote?

Final vote was never opened, for the record, because I noticed the issue I pointed out above and want to resolve it quickly before we proceed.

Thats fine. Since i objected to your sponsorship we vote on that first before you get to suggest amendments.

Motions do not “stand” or otherwise unless the presiding officer reacts to them. 24 hours to object to S019’s motion to sponsor, which, to be clear, is separate from the amendment he proposes.

We’ll look at his motion to sponsor, then Mr. R’s motion to sponsor, then S019’s amendment.

edit: I owe Mr. R a Coke apparently.

Technically isn't this already tabled.

Quote from: Article 4: Debate 2)
The sponsor of a piece of legislation may at any time withdraw their sponsorship. In addition, when the sponsor is no longer a Senator, their sponsorship shall be revoked automatically. If no member of the Senate moves to assume sponsorship of the legislation within 48 hours, the legislation shall be tabled automatically.

I proposed my amendment for that reason. Let Lincoln be Lincoln, Fremont be Fremont, and the South be the South. I believe the bill is tabled anyway. So the authoritarian version is gone which is still a win.
