We'll probably have a good idea for 1 riding at 8, Iles-de-la-Madeleine (they are in Atlantic time).

Don't know anything about Quebec politics, but I did a quick read of the party platforms and it seemed like every party except PCQ was offering heavy spending commitments in every area without raising taxes, which seems concerning at the provincial level. Also every opposition party has some crankish nonsense that they're likely only promising because they knew they weren't going to be forming a government anyway. Like for some reason PLQ want to put $450m into a public psychotherapy programme.

There is a fund to pay the debt which is very plump, that's where they get the money.
What's wrong with public mental healthcare?

Nothing wrong with public mental health, just psychotherapy is woo. And to be fair yes you'll know more than I do about Quebec's budgetary situation.

CAQ out to a running start, leading in twelve ridings to one apiece for the Liberals, Pequistes & Solidaire. Tories with nothing yet.

CAQ now leading in 25, Liberals in five, and the other three opposition parties in one apiece.

One CAQ candidate declared elected in Rousseau.

America's national psychosis isn't universal.

As long as he waved the flag & spooked people about the decline of French every now and then not much else mattered.

Such a strategy worked for Southern Democrats for generations, and it's worked for Quebec Premiers (both Pequiste and former Pequiste) for half a century.

1. Didn't he literally do actual curfews including in the Jan of 2022.

2. Well Pierre Poilievre did win a landslide in the leadership race

First opposition seat declared by CBC: Jacques-Cartier for the Liberals.

Grit vote on the rise as Montreal results start coming in - they'll definitely stay the Official Opposition now, and will probably come second in votes too.

Tories & QS ('Solidarists'?) underperforming a bit so far in votes, while the Pequistes are doing a little better than expected.

PQ locking fairly strong in the Madeleines, so maybe they'll have 2 seats not 1. Have to wonder if the storm benefited the incumbent in terms of coverage and prominence in the final days.

Yet. So long as those evangelical numbers keep rising globally, it'll get there.

(I am aware they're not necessarily rising in Quebec).

Back on topic, looks like a truly enormous CAQ win with the Liberals securing Opposition status by managing to hold on to their strongholds. A few PQ stragglers holding on, QS continues to exist as a party. PCQ looks like they're not necessarily winning anywhere, though there are a couple places where they're within single-digits, particularly Beauce-Nord.

Jonquière and Fabre called for the CAQ. Both are flips.

PCQ not in the lead anywhere, but hot on CAQ's tail in Beauce-Nord and gaining ground in Beauce-Sud

Nipping at CAQ heels in La Peltrie as well. Duhaime trailing quite a bit right next door though.

Patrice Roy said a few minutes ago that it's mathematically impossible for Duhaime to win Chauveau.

PSPP trailing too, depite PQ being (distantly) second in the overall popular vote.
