Gross dropping out helps Palin. Unified dem vote means a D is likely to make it into the final round. As Palin is ahead of other Republicans, it likely means a victory for her.

Obviously, D's are uniting behind Nick Begich just like in UT with Evan McMillan, when Elvi Gray-Jackson dropped out AK became safe R

Palin isn't a shoe in Begich can win in the end

People assuming dems will vote for Begich have literally no idea about this race and just assume the non-Trump endorsed candidate is a moderate. Begich is further right than Palin and has attacked her from the right, he's literally appeared on Infowars and is the "Club for Growth" candidate.

I’m shocked. This makes no sense. Gross didn’t really provide a reason for dropping out, either. My guess is there’s a scandal that’s about to break, so he’s getting out of the race ahead of it.

Anyways, the article states that state election officials are unsure if the fifth place candidate (Tara Sweeney) would be bumped up. They are looking into it.

Does this mean Tara Sweeney will be on the ranked choice ballot, or will it just be Palin, Begich, and Peltola?

Looks like Palin is the favorite either way.

I've got two questions concerning the U.S. House election in Alaska:

1.) Do I understand it correctly? Two elections will be held on August 16? Both the special election for the succession of Don Young and a primary for the regular election in November; and the latter will be a nonpartisan blanket top-four primary with over 1,000 candidates like the primary for the special election? All three advanced candidates (Palin, Begich, Sattler) will appear on both ballots, so that they have to campaign for two elections?

2.) Voters will utilize ranked-choice voting during both general elections, like in Maine, right? How does that work? Do voters have to fill in a number next to the candidates' names? If there were, as wrongly expected, four candidates, would the ranking also consist of four preferences, or would it be a lower number? And do I assume correctly that the ballots will be counted numerous time on Election Night until so many candidates are eliminated that only one candidate receives a majority of votes?

I think Palin is now heavily favored because of this. While I expect many Democrats will rank Begich second, I don’t think they will think to (or want to) rank Begich first.

Can we stop for a second and think about how insane it is that either Sarah Palin or Nick Begich will end up winning this seat? Would be like choosing between MTG and Boebert.

I first though it was the fake Santa Claus, the one that regularly runs for President in Idaho and other states. But no, it's indeed the real one.
What makes it even funnier is the fact that his home town is North Pole...

WTF??? Huh Huh Huh

When I was taking a look at the endorsement section of the Wikipedia article about the 2022 Alaska's at-large congressional district special election, I thought my pig was whistling.

Take a guess at who endorses Palin's adversary... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Is that supposed to be a joke? Or fake news?

What's next, Begich reanimating John McCain's corpse for an endorsement?

As for Wasserman’s point, why would Democrats vote for Begich as a lesser of two evils when they have a small but real chance of beating Palin in a 1-on-1?

Somewhat off-topic, I apologize. But you have a pig as a pet too? Or is that some sort of expression I have never heard before?

No, I've simply become too lazy to look up the translation for every idiom and adage, especially since two certain green Germany avatars claim that My PrOsE iS nOn-UnDeRsTaNdAbLe™.
Me is conscious that my English not the yellow from the egg is, in fact my English is so bad, that makes me nobody so quickly after. Some may say I didn't have all cups in the cupboard, but that is me sausage; I let that out of eight. Instead every single word after to beat, enjoy I lover my life in full trains. 9€ ticket lets greet!
