Be it enacted by the Senate of the Republic of Atlasia assembled

Section 1. Title

1. This act may be cited as the 32 Hour Workweek Act.

Section 2

1. No employee shall be required to work more than thirty-two hours a week.

2. Any employee who should voluntarily work more than thirty-two hours in a given a week shall be compensated at 120% of their regular hourly salary for every hour they work after the thirty-second.

As it says in it’s name, this bill will provide for a 32 hour workweek. This is based upon a law already in effect in my native Fremont, and to great success. This will boost productivity and provide much needed relief to our workers.

1.2x Pay for 8 hours x 50 weeks (400)


(29.93 x (8x50)) x (73.3Mill x .92) = 807,343,792,000

 x 1.2 = 968,812,550,400

$807,343,792,000
=
$161,468,758,400 more in the cost of inputs/prices for the poor and middle class resulting from this bill.

So in other words this is an irresponsible inflation bill that will make prices go up, supplies go down, and attempts to offshore jobs increase. Plus a contraction of GDP and a ton of over difficulties.

Nay, and thinking about it, I'm uncertain if small business would be hurt by the amendment or not. Wouldn't employees prefer to go into work at an establishment not exempt? That'd probably hurt small business more. I could maybe support an exception with a phase-out to soften any blow but not an overly long phase-out period.

Here's a real amendment. Dumb amendments by Federalists must be punished with better amendments.
