Senator Hiram Fong of Hawaii sought the Republican presidential nomination irl.  Suppose he obtained it.  How would he have performed against LBJ?

Fong was pretty much a mainstream Republican, and of Chinese origin.

He would have done better than Goldwater, but still lose. George Wallace would try to expand his campaign beyond the South and attract conservative Republicans to his side.

Fong would carry his home state by 3.0%.

Closest wins are Virginia for Fong, Montana for LBJ and Arkansas for Wallace.

Edit: I meant for Orval Faubus to be Wallace's VP. I guess he'd still carry Arkansas though
