2022 F1 Season starts in controversy.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-03/future-of-f1-driver-nikita-mazepin-in-doubt-as-uk-bans-russian-d/100880666

Nikita Mazepin facing expulsion from F1.

And Russian GP is cancelled.

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.formula-1-terminates-contract-with-russian-grand-prix-promoter.5geFNbONEePwRCSQj25Xg3.html

A bit embarrassing for Russia to be honest.

And gone. Mazepin is out of his seat.

Bahrain Qualifying just starting.

Red Bull and Ferrari are the teams to beat.

I so hope Valterri Bottas beats Lewis Hamilton in the first race.

Yes, Ferrari is back! Cheesy

Hoping Sainz can fight for the championship, for obvious reasons. Also very surprising results in the midfield but sadly I fear the gap between them and the big teams has broadened.

How did Hamilton in a slow car keep up with Perez in a fast car.

Lewis just won't die. He is phenomenal even as an underdog. Gifted speed demon.

Saudi Arabian practice underway.

I dont really like this track.

The race here last year was an abomination.

Red Bull's Christian Horner saying Mercedes won't give Ferrari and Red Bull a head start in the season for very long.

He is suggesting 3-4 races before they get back up to speed.

Great result on qualifying for McLaren.

Wait and see who gets to T1 first, a big opportunity for LeClerc to get Ferrari on top.

Will be an interesting race.

US Grand Prix at Miami.

Great qualifying. Will see if drivers can overtake on the dirty parts of the tracks.

Apparently, the surface is like ice off the main racing line so expect lots of yellows.

Spanish Grand Prix.

Awesome race. Looks like Mercedes are back.

Really impressed with Alonso and Hamilton showing their class over the longer distance.

Verstappen was losing it over the mic in the first couple of swings after his DRS failed.

Former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone arrested in Brazil for carrying gun

The former Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone was arrested in Brazil late on Wednesday for illegally carrying a gun while boarding a private plane to Switzerland, local police reported on Thursday.

Brazilian police found an undocumented LW Seecamp .32 gun in Ecclestone’s luggage during an X-ray screening, police said in a statement, adding that he was then arrested and taken to a facility at Viracopos airport in Campinas.

Ecclestone acknowledged owning the gun but said he was unaware it was in his luggage at the time, police said. The Briton paid bail and was freed to travel.

I have left Leatherman's from the bush in my carry on. They just confiscate it and you can get it back later.

I genuinely believe he did not knowingly do this.

Brazil is a pretty hairy place to get around. Kidnappings and car-jacking erc.

Rich people in Sao Paulo helicopter from their apartment to the roof of their office to avoid such tomfoolery.

Q3 shut down 2 years in a row handing LeClerc pole position in Monaco.

The Richard Mille and Rolex watches are out for this event.

Should be a Ferrari 1-2.

Praying for rain.

Have to be thrilled for Checo. Very nearly a Mexican sweep today — win in Monaco, Pato O'Ward a close second in Indy, and Daniel Suarez very quick (leading at the halfway mark) before an unfortunate crash in the Coke 600. Congratulations to LeClerc on his first Monaco GP finish.

2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Thought it was near Ukraine, but obviously not close enough not to hold it.

Le Clerc in qualifying was supreme. My pick is Max Verstappen starting from 3rd.
