I ask you for help. Help that is not meant for me, but help that is meant for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

You can always help by influencing your government officials and civil servants. I am now asking those of you who are residents of EU countries to write to your officials and ask them to accept Ukraine into the EU as a matter of urgency. I ask the people of the United States to go to rallies in support of Ukraine and demand action from government officials. It is very important. Please do this if possible.

And finally, thank you for your support. This is very important in these times!

I already donated for humanitarian aid. Andriy, don't hesitate for a Go Fund Me campaign for yourself and your family. We're with you all the way! I believe I speak for the entire Atlas community here.

Thanks, but I don't need financial help yet. However, you can always help the Armed Forces of Ukraine financially or humanitarianly through volunteers who are in your area.

I've also donated for humanitarian aid and went to a rally on Thursday evening. I missed out on the big rally on Sunday with 500,000 people though, due to a friends' birthday.

Also, since the weekend it kind of became part of my job description to sell arms shipments to Ukraine to the public, which is a task I find pretty annoying at times because of the peace-at-all-costs types who probably would have tried to stop Auschwitz with campaigns of civil disobedience in the mold of Martin Luther King. The ghost of Neville Chamberlain is alive and well.

Can confirm, sadly. We had a rally in solidarity with Ukraine on Saturday (500 people for a spontaneous protest) and some of those 80s boomer hippie activists were talking in a Church mass-like way how weapons should never be exported to Ukraine and how NATO was also responsible blabla. It took half of the crowd to boo them down and start singing the Ukrainian anthem to stop their nonsense and let actual Ukrainians talk.

I also had the impression in recent days that leftists of my age or younger tend to be more hawkish than older generations. I suppose that could be the result of a political socialisation that has been influenced by the teachings of someone like Joschka Fischer and the positions he held 25 years ago as well as watching too many Steven Spielbetg/Tom Hanks WWII films in our youths. Tongue If people of my age or younger go full pacifist or pro-Russia they often seem to be weird, esoteric part-Wagenknecht/part-AfD anti-vaxxer types.

Is there a way to donate to the civilians harmed by the shelling of Kharkiv?

German interior ministry has put an Ukrainian-language FAQ on its website to answer questions about what to observe when fleeing to and staying in Germany:

So? This is a great way to get in touch with average Russians across their country.

Quote
Some people have found a novel way to get money to Ukrainians as their country is under attack from Russia: booking immediate Airbnb stays they don't intend to use.

...

Airbnb hosts are paid 24 hours after a guest checks in, so people abroad are booking stays and letting hosts know that it's a gesture of solidarity, and they don't plan to appear.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is always a good global humanitarian group.

Used to have regular monthly donations on direct deposit and thinking about doing so again.

Saw an article earlier today about how their first shipment of medical expertise was moving into Ukraine.

Here's a link to their website....

Another way might be donating to the Catholic Relief Services, especially considering that a large % of external refugees are in Poland (Generally Old and Women & Children), and the Catholic Church distribution network is very efficient and the Pope and Vatican have made it very clear without totally calling out Putin by name on which side they are on.

Well if you get banned, your reviews are removed along with your Google Account.

Net effect to the World : zero.

Net effect to You : minus one.

Not a great way to start the week.

Would VPN and Proxy Servers be a potential way where the intrepid individual might be able to carry on with the "fake review" strategy?

I believe McDonalds (among some other well known fast food brands) are under critiques for failing to "Pull Out of Russia", but pretty sure it would be replaced by a "McPutin", selling pretty much the same Russian Market style food as before.

Still the concept of sabotage and subversive content in Russia through online reviews appears a bit bizarre, even if crowd sourced likely not particularly effective since it won't sound authentic even with a fluent translation template which can be user modified.

Do we even know for certain that Google would ban you for writing "political" fake reviews in Russia right now? I mean Google certainly will be aware of Anonymous' tactics and considering many Western companies' stance on the sanctions against Russia I'd say there's a fair chance that they would simply tolerate it. I find that discussion here quite bizarre tbh.
