Gore would probably keep to party tradition and pick a Northern running mate, but in any case his environmentalism would lose Montana at least. Picking Clinton would indicate a Southern strategy of sorts so he still does okay there.

Bush SR wouldn't win New Hampshire. It was one of Perot's best states. Also why New Jersey and Ohio of all places? The map changes seem rather random.

While they're both Southern Dems, Gore lacks Clinton's folksy charm which would weaken him in those states and NH was one of Bush's best states in '88.
