Senators,

I recall that the Intermediate Budget was waved at the beginning of the Fourteenth Senate in July, the Preliminary Budget having passed the Twelfth Senate back in March

Soon, it will be November, and time to draft and approve the Final Budget

What I intend to do, is introduce the Preliminary Budget adding to it the cost of any legislation passed since it was approved

As to comprehensive economic data, could the Game Moderator provide the Senate with such data as GDP estimates, estimates of tax revenues, etc please?

Indeed, that is true. I'm hoping Bono can, and will, do a better job of it. Sam was ace at this kind of thing

And so was Ford before him. Anyways Bono hasn't done anything as GM either so I'm not hopeful.

Bono missed the last two elections and should be removed from the voter list, therefore making the GM slot vacant.

I've seen nothing from Bono at all since his selection to the GM position. Rest assured the moment Al and I are in office, we will support his removal, and will concur as to who would be best to replace him.

Well, all things considered, I guess my only option will be to introduce the Intermediate Budget as the Preliminary one plus additions for any expenditure as result of passed legislation. I believe only the Modified Welfare Reform Act to date involves any appropriations but I'll have to check on that

I'll wait and see if the Military Modernisation and Readiness Bill passes first, but if it's not done and dusted by noon Friday, at the latest, I'll introduce the Intermediate Budget anyway given that the new Senate takes effect from noon Eastern Friday 3 November

Well, it isn't the greatest budget in the world, but considering we've been operating without one, I'd be willing to accept this budget.

Addition of Legislation from 12th Session of the Senate

2.  Treasury and Social Services Dept.

2g.  Labor Sub-Dept.

*F.L. 12-12 Section 5 states that $2.0bn shall be appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2007 provide funding for vocational training, as specified in Section 3 . The Senate shall review this funding on annual basis and set it at an amount at which it may deem appropriate.

Other Acts that may have effect on the Budget are:

1) F.L. 12-14 Corporate Benevolent Fund Act [Twelfth Senate], though such Funds don't come into effect until 1st January 2008, so it won't impact this Budget

2) F.L. 15-5 Tax Increase Act [Fifteenth Senate], which I assume come into effect 1st January 2007

While, F.L. 15-4 Cabinet Restructuring Act will affect how the Budget ought to be presented

Other that what I've done thus far, I'm clueless Huh as far as the Budget goes. Sam Spade was on top form as GM but since he quit, matters fiscal seem to have gone by the wayside

So if any one has any ideas, where I go from here (it's not within my remit, but it needs to be done), please let me know Smiley.

The Energy Policy Reform Act (F.L. 12-15) has an indirect effect from the sale of Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That sale should be raising about $40 billion dollars to pay daown the debt, so that should be cutting about $2 billion from the Treasury Sub. Dept. since we have less interest to pay.

Nothing happened in July because Earl and Jcar completly failed and gave us nothing.

Indeed, that is true. I'm hoping Bono can, and will, do a better job of it. Sam was ace at this kind of thing

Dave 'Hawk'
Talking about this--I apologise for the having been lax in my duties since I was appointed as GM. My life has been kind of busy lately, but I am going to try to change what has happened, and I wish you can give me another chance. If you can't, I won't hold any sort of grudge, since I clearly deserved it.
Anyways while I am still GM, I will provide all this date tomorow.

Unfortunately, there is no way the Senate will be able to pass the Intermediate Budget, something which seems to be in breach of the Constitution

That's what happens when the apparatus breaks down into chaos Sad. The chaos that followed Sam Spade's departure ... but I won't dwell on that

It is not without my remit as a Senator to prepare a Budget

Nevertheless, I hope now that Bono is back that budgetary requirements will be back on track in the Sixteenth Senate

They will be.
One problem I have is that someone deleted the previous GM thread, so I'm lacking some months of economic data. If anyone happened to have recorded this, I'd be very grateful.

Well, unfortunately, I don't but, as you know back when you were Secretary of the Treasury, the whole thing kind of fell apart once Sam quit. Try asking him to see if he recollects the state of things back then Smiley

You had raised rates a whole lot and growth slowed and inflation had definitely abated. IIRC, GDP growth was between 1.5 and 2%. The Dow was somewhere between 10000 and 11000.

You are GM- don't worry about last Spring. What do you think the impact of all the free trade bills has been? How is uncertainty over a new government affecting markets? How have gas prices rise and fall affected consumer confidence. You're smart on this stuff- make educated guesses and tell us what the economy is doing.

Bono, it's your job to come up with that stuff, don't worry about what happened back then.

If you don't want to be replaced by this administration, then come up with something.
