By all rights, a scenario where Democrats are in office during the 2008 recession should be a loss for whoever the nominee, but quite frankly, Mitt Romney is the last person possible Republicans should be running in these circumstances, and Obama is practically the perfect campaigner. He'd destroy Romney's campaign apparatus.
