Do you agree with this quote?

I've unfortunately had several friends over the years who I've noticed starting to drift into alt-right or parafascist circles. In every case I've at least initially remained friends with the person and attempted to provide a countervailing influence. Sometimes this has worked; other times it hasn't and I've eventually cut contact (or had them cut contact with me). So, based on those experiences, even if I do read the quote the way Ferguson does, I still don't agree with it.
