I calculated some of the vote totals between Virginia and West Virginia and realized that West Virginia had an electoral impact on how Virginia would've voted if it were part of the state. Elections that would differ if there was no succession. So far, none of them impacted the national winner, but I thought it was interesting. I'm not sure who the incumbent senators of governors are, but I'd guess Youngkin was elected by a bigger margin (possibly approaching double digits in terms of the P.V.), while I'd guess Tim Kaine and Paula Jean Swearengin? who defeated first term incumbent senator Ed Gillespie who lost re-election by approximately 16,000 votes.

Different statewide winners if West Virginia never seceded:
1920: Harding
1960: Kennedy
1976: Carter
1996: Clinton
2012: Romney
2016: Trump

Interesting enough so far the amount of different Dem and Rep wins are tied at 3. While Biden narrowly won the state in 2020 given gross vote totals, it's interesting to see if there ends up being a significant difference in the future.
