I.E 2007 Curtis and Graduation came out on 9/11/2007 6 years after 9/11 and the Blueprint 1 was released
Curtis was a gangsta rap album with 50 cent's first name. The album cover is a metaphor of what will happen to gangsta rap in the next few years.
Meanwhile Graduation by Kanye West was one of the first alternative hip hop albums to go mainstream without gang ties and served as the path for Drake, J cole, and Kid Cudi to fame. It is also a Midwestern rap album to get Midwestern rap more mainstream recognition as New York, Southern, and to a less extent California rappers was dominating hip hop during most of the 2000s.

Seattle rock music in the early 90's:

  • Pearl Jam - Ten
  • Soundgarden - Louder than Love
  • Alice in Chains - Facelift
  • Nirvana - Nevermind

Just a release of new positive energy.

Australian bands in the mid-1980's were not necessarily competing with each other, more like inspiring each other. 1984-1987 saw some amazing new music from:

  • Midnight Oil
  • Men at Work
  • INXS
  • Mental as Anything
  • Icehouse
  • Hoodoo Gurus
  • The Models

They got away from the hard rock and blues bass lines of the 1970's into more melodic songwriting with great success.

And you cannot fail to mention the queen of Australian music in the 80's, Chrissy Amphlett.

R.I.P. Chrissy.

Rap albums from 2007 that were just as important than Curtis and Graduation
American Gangster by Jay Z (not the official movie soundtrack as others have said and a great album following a more mediocre album the previous year)
The Undisputed Brother Ali (surprising good alternative rap album by a older white dude)
Popular Demand by Black Milk (mid to late 2000s Detroit rap deserves more recognition than NYC, LA, And Atlanta)
T.I Vs TIP by TI
Made by Scarface
The solution by Beanie Siegel
Underground Kingz by UGK
