I have nearly wrapped up Doris Kearns Goodwins' excellent Lincoln biography, Team of Rivals, and am thinking about what I want to read next. I was looking into biographies of John Quincy Adams and found that there are two recent works, both apparently highly rated. These are:

  • John Quincy Adams: American Visionary by Fred Kaplan (2015)
  • John Quincy Adams: Militant Spirit by James Traub (2017)

Has anyone read either of these. Which would you suggest?
