In 2000, Vice President Al Gore wins the Democratic presidential nomination, and selects New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen as his running mate.  On the other side, Republican presidential candidate John McCain selects Fred Thompson, senator from Tennessee, to be his VP candidate.

Gore flips New Hampshire, and wins the Presidency.
