Kwrabbit thinks so because they have made gains recently. The last two Republicans to win statewide in Middlesex was George Bush in 1988 for President and Chris Christie for Governor in 2009 and 2013. It has been a solidly Democratic stronghold for years now, but can flip in the right environment.

It trended Republican in 2021, with Jack Ciattarelli winning a lot of towns in his failed gubernatorial campaign.

Currently it's safe Democratic, unless we're talking about certain gubernatorial elections. It went for Biden with over 60% after all.

I don't think the GOP will be winning Middlesex County any time soon. My point was that it'll be a good location for GOP gains if the multicultural, diverse GOP coalition talk gets borne out.

It does seem like the NJ GOP is putting in a lot of effort into winning the Indian community, I think they realize they need it to stay competitive statewide. This community is centered in Middlesex county. Perth Amboy and New Brunswick are both majority Hispanic cities. Then there are WWC communities in the Eastern part of the county.

It has trended right. Obama +27 to Biden +22. Atypical for such a wealthy, educated county during the Trump era.

South Plainfield
Piscataway
Woodbridge (proper)
Perth Amboy
New Brunswick

These are pretty populous towns in the county that will remain Democratic for the long term

A Kasich-Haley or Hogan-Haley ticket would fit well here in Middlesex.
