Comes from a swing state and can stomp MAGA without even debating

Not in 2024 but maybe 2028.

We’ll see how she does. She doesn’t strike me as having a lot of charisma or being likely presidential material but as I said in another thread, sometimes greatness comes from the places you’d least expect. Perhaps she’ll knock it out of the park as governor and prove everybody wrong.

But as for now, I think Mark Kelly would be the stronger Arizona candidate.

She'd be a good VP candidate, assuming she does a good job as governor. She's also a good choice because Democrats won't have to worry about a special election in a swing state if they do end up picking her.

Nah, someone who just got in as gov is hardly presidential material. You literally have to start campaigning a 2-3 months into your first term. Wouldn't bode well with voters that just elected you to the job.

Yes I think she'd be a good candidate. Certainly for 2028 anyway.

Hobbs doesn’t seem charismatic and will face a tough 2026 in a competitive state. Ruben Gallego seems like a good future candidate if he wins AZ-SEN in 2024. 2028 or 2032 would be perfect for him.

Maybe not 2024, but I could see it in 2028. Hobbs comes off like the endearing wine aunt that Sinema tries to be.

Republicans have constantly underestimated Hobbs since 2018. We thought we’d beat her in the Secretary of State race after the incumbent controversial incumbent lost the primary. Then thought we’d beat her in the governors race this year because of her refusing to debate and purportedly running a “bad” campaign (she didn’t—she won AZ-01 and AZ-06 in the gubernatorial race). But 2024 is not happening. She’s probably the surprise Dem winner of 2022 as the party looks for a post-Biden bench.

Not after only two years as Governor. Maybe in 2028 or 2032 if she's successful, but even then I'm skeptical of her as a presidential candidate.

Not happening.

My top picks for the next Democratic nominee after Biden - whether that is 2024 or 2028 - are probably Whitmer, Shapiro, Bennet, and Warnock. Hobbs would probably be in the next tier after that, which is certainly not a bad place to be.

I don't expect her to be VP in 2024, but generally she's a good VP. Completely inoffensive and competent.

No Democrat is choosing a non-Senator as their VP. People predict it every time and it never happens.

This. Frankly, though as Alben said, we need to see how she does as governor before firmly evaluating her - at present, I really don’t think she’s presidential material, period, just because she won a race in a swing state. As far as that group of people go, though, I’d definitely bet my money on Josh Shapiro and guess he’s someone to look out for - he ran a MASTERFUL campaign, MUCH better than Hobbs’ (of course, Lake also ran a campaign significantly better than Mastriano’s).

She ran a terrible campaign, lucky to win and she will not be anything more than a Governor (which is fine)
