Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) / Fmr. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA)
Fmr. Senator Mike Gravel (D-AK) / Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) ✓
Senator John McCain (I-AZ) / Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT)

They cancel each other out on Iraq, but Gravel has more appeal at the onset of the Great Recession. A neocon third party ticket runs and doesn't get very far.

Two FFs. I despise Ron Paul's economic views but he is one of the politicians I respect the most. Mike Gravel is, well, Mike Gravel, he's one of the best politicians in the history of the country and is right on almost everything. This would be a rare moment where both major candidates are uncorrupt and trustworthy good people.

I think Gravel would win because it's after the Recession.

Ron Paul would have won.

Gravel became a Libertarian in 2008, although he walked that back later on.
