Why doesn’t Trump want to stay in retirement? You think he’d want to spend his last years being fre to just play golf and watch TV in Mar-a-Lago rather than go back to the White House.

Because then he'd go down in history as a loser and a failed one-term President.

Because, in addition to the ego and legal issues others have mentioned, he has a lot of debt that needs to be paid and he's not a very good businessman. (Hint: being President of the United States, or even maybe going to be President of the United States, is very good when it comes to renegotiating loans.)

He's been in the public eye constantly since at least the 80s, he loves the attention from the public/audience

Because he's addicted to attention. Running for POTUS and ultimately being in office gets him the attention the desperately needs.

Though he won't say it, I believe he's concerned about his place in history.

He'd do better to let a friendly Republican run and win.  That Republican President could preserve Trump's positive legacy by implementing Trump policies without the Trump Tweets.

You should write him a letter explaining this fact.  Smiley

Honestly him and Grandpa need to just retire at once.  It would be a great service to our nation if these two men just called it quits already, but Cheeto had no place or business getting himself into politics.  He's not even a good politician, he was an even more lousy president - it's just that his supporters don't seem to have anyone else to turn to that will promote their grievances quite like he does.  But these two men are in their twilight years... they're at the end of their careers, my god they've have to be.  How long do they expect to live?  Forever?

This is a silly statement, as silly as the reputation Ike had for doing little as President except play golf.  You may not like the work Trump did, but he was an active President from his first to his last day.  To say he did little work as President is simply not true.

Who says he won't be free to do those things when he is president? This post seems to assume Trump would take his duties as president seriously and not get sidetracked playing golf like he did during his first.

Like I said in the other thread, it is mainly his ego, he can't let go that he got rejected by the people and wants a redo, plus it keeps criminal investigations off his back
