I was hoping there would actually be substantive debate here.
Whats really to debate? Congress can foolishly choose to forego its powers over interstate commerce if it wants. My main complaint has always been that prior to this bill Congress had not done so, Fremont blatantly nullified the federal law unilaterally, and when the empty seat that is the Attorney General was informed of his duty to protect the Constitution against an illegal bill he, himself wrote he just proceeded to violate his oath of office and mindlessly derp about "muh red brown slave power ... peacelandbread ... cross of gold ... hur dur me sooooo clever" as though he's not just being an obnoxious disgrace to his office.
