Operation Barbarossa 2.0 would be an absolute disaster. Absolutely no troops, if they are sent, should enter into Russian territory. I personally believe we are best off without getting involved .

Like we did when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan.

The U.S. has already intervened more than enough in this conflict.

Invading another sovereign country =/= "sphere of influence"

No country in the world, including Russia, has a right to a sphere of influence. Countries have a of course a right to enter voluntary alliances with each other and if the Russian and Ukrainian governments would agree to such an alliance they're free to do so.

Btw, if the West places sanctions on Russia it's possible if not likely that Russia will cut off the gas supply to Western Europe. In which case emergency gas supplies from America to Europe would become necessary and apparently the Biden administration is already preparing to make such emergency supplies available:

Well we aught to funking stand up to the little onion headed troll.  Sure, we don't want to start WWIII for Ukraine, but you know who else doesn't want to start WWIII over Ukraine, the little onion headed troll.  When the toughest kid in the room doesn't stand up to the bully, the bully gets emboldened and that's all we done with the little onion headed troll.  Emboldened him.  We should stop doing that.

A combination of 2,3, and 6, as others have said, is the most likely and logical US response.

But if the US wanted to play hardball and take on Russia at their own game, (after threatening to invade if Russia invaded Ukraine, beforehand) they'd invade Cuba in response. Russia threatened to send troops there again (the last Russians left Cuba in 2002) this week. If Russia cannot accept a foreign power's troops on their southern border, neither can the US on its southern border.

Ideally the United States would do nothing, as this would strike down the morale of certain state department and three letter agency’s morale and—like the fall of Apartheid South Africa—end the covert actions done by fascist proxies and the state in Eastern Europe.

That won’t happen, and it may be for the best in terms of creating ripe conditions for long-term change. By all accounts the Ukrainian, and really most of the former Soviet Union’s, left already operates underground and are more threatened by the current state and it sponsored militias than anything else. The ensuing violence would cut down major powerbrokers allowing for new opportunities there and abroad, given that an invasion of Ukraine is an incredibly dumb idea in the long run for Russia and would lead to more investment in Ukraine against fascists than in internal security suppressing the Left in the rest of the former Soviet Union. The United States and its allies would pour tons and tons of cash wasting it in Ukraine that, like the forest militias in the Baltics, will fail and won’t be spent on internal oppression.

Don’t look at the doom and gloom for something inevitable (here it is really not though), take every moment as an opportunity to take to advance your people.

Multilateral response with our European allies. We need to show strength and a united front with Europe if further Russian aggression is to be stopped. It also involves immediately getting Ukraine into NATO and pumping military aid.

Perhaps send aid, but don't get involved militarily under any circumstances.
