I am devoting this thread to the intellectual proponents of rhetorical strategies that later became used for political purposes. Seeing people like P.Z. Meyers, and even the AmazingAtheist, hammering in facts and logic while creating a primarily online space for people to connect. Over time, online connections became much more personal and even led to real world effects with a core group motivated for change.

The same thing happened politically. While a good amount of figureheads went against feminism and the “SJW”, a splinter faction of that online space broke apart and merged with online figures of the left to pop that online reactionary bubble. Many did so for personal gain, but a few became radicalized here and even helped tread water for other left personalities and ideology, going through the same stages as the “New Atheism” wave.

Once people were convinced that material reality mattered and that they weren’t alone out there in being a dissenter against capitalism, they came together and became involved. The rise in interest of socialism—an ideology rooted in material reality—and activism, the shift in culture, and a mainstream option in the modern progressive movement are the causes of such a firestorm not too long ago.
