I also want to echo what the President has said. Continued abuse of the rules to obstruct the wishes of a majority of Senators will be met with a rules change.

These rules are not meant to be abused as filibuster tactics. If a minority of senators wants to follow Wulfric's encouragement to abuse the rules, they can be changed very easily.

Well if you guys would drop this heartless repeal, we would never have to consider these "tactics" to begin with.
You thinking that all non-Christians and LGBT people will be sent to hell could also be considered heartless but you aren't dropping that so it is very hypocritical for you to call this heartless when a lot of your beliefs are heartless.

I don't even believe the bolded part (as should be pretty obvious by the fact I use people's preferred pronouns...), and as for the first part, I am not going to pretend to be a universalist (a theology I believe to be explicitly denounced by the bible) for the sake of success or influence in a forum game, and honestly I think it would be pretty heartless to tell someone they can get to heaven without professing faith in Jesus Christ, when I don't believe that is the case. That being said, I do support the right for all people to believe what they want to believe or not believe without government interference or prejudice.

But beyond that, this is a useless deviation from the topic at hand and I will not be taking further questions here.

I won't vote for a rules change if it helps this bill FYI.

FTR, I don't think the Senate rules should be changed or that a stronger filibuster should be introduced to Atlasia.

Introducing a stronger filibuster would only encourage gridlock (real life is a different matter, though, because the RL filibuster is the status quo).

This legislation has not been on the floor for at least 120 hours, as such any motions for a final vote cannot be entertained.

Introducing this amendment. This should allow Congress to see the effects of the bill more and avoid rushing into an unsafe repeal.
Quote
AN ACT
To repeal the Federal Assault Weapon and Automatic Weapon Ban Act in its entirety.

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Republic of Atlasia assembled

Section 1. Title

1. This act may be cited as the Federal Assault Weapon and Automatic Weapon Ban Full Repeal Act.

Section 2. Definitions

2. All sections of the Federal Assault Weapon and Automatic Weapon Ban Act are hereby repealed in their entirety, effective immediately 10 years from the date of its passage into law.

I'll vote for the amendment to soften the blow if the repeal somehow passes, but even with it included, I'd vote nay on the repeal.

Objection being raised, a vote on the amendment is open. Senators, please vote AYE, NAY, or Abstain.

Nay. If it is OK for a federal ban to be implemented within months why does a reversal of that ban require ten years??
