Whether or not one agrees with vaccine requirements, it's a good move to be consistent in their enforcement.  Making an exception for a prominent individual would be bad policy.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has looked at the replay after going upstairs to the 3rd umpire to use Hawkeye technology on the Novak Djokovic border entry decision:

They made that exception before he flew into the country. If they weren't going to give him access, they should have let him know beforehand - fine. But instead, they made him think he was fine only to lock him up upon arrival anyway. That's cruel and unacceptable and it makes Australia look bad. Morrison is just trying to score political points at Djokovic's expense.

"Djokovic is a millionaire scumbag who has rightly incurred the anger of a lot of people in Australia," he said. "He can't be bothered to get vaccinated to protect the people around him."

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/07/tennis/novak-djokovic-australia-protests-intl-hnk-dst-spt/index.html

I don't share that individual's opinion. I feel like he is being treated unfairly because he is Serbian, a fairly unpopular ethnic group in Australia following their ethnic cleansing practices of the 1990's.

But that is not Novak's fault.

The guy is a sportsman and Tennis Australia did his entry paperwork, so this will make Victoria look stupid if he gets expelled.

Tennis Australia did not check with the Federsl Govt and trusted Victorian Govt advice.

Novak will become the first defending champion to lose the title after missing just two shots.

Novak Djokovic decision due Monday:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-09/court-documents-detail-timeline-of-djokovic-deportation/100746228

Although Tennis Australia denies misleading athletes, if Novak Djokovic is subject to a deportation order on Monday, then evidently, they did.

Former Australian Open director, Paul McNamee said of the situation:

"I hate to think politics are involved but it feels that way," he said.

The tournament should be boycotted by the rest of the players to send a message to the Morrison regime.

Judge appears quite sympathetic to Djokovic's plight:

I'm going to disagree here. Djokovic shouldn't have even been allowed to enter by the tournament organizing committee, given the COVID restrictions in Australia, so the proper punishment would be to kick Djokovic out of the country, and for the government to jump in and cancel the 2022 Australian Open as punishment for the Organizing Commitee's willful defiance of Australia's COVID restrictions.

Novak Djokovic wins Court Case with costs awarded. Looks like he is free to play.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-10/novak-djokovic-live-court-hearing-jan-10/100747106

This is a magnificent result for sports people. And lucky for Tennis Australia who balls'd this up.

The COVID rules with Omicron are changing so rapidly in Australia that his case will be irrelevant in 3 months time for future sports people.

I wonder what the outcome would be if this wasn't someone famous. Kelly likely would've ruled against said person and sent them packing.

If he wasn't famous, he would've simply not traveled to Australia and this circus would never have happened in the first place.

Novak Djokovic with one of his greatest victories yet.

Might put a couple of bucks on him now to win the title. Mentally, he will be wound up like a spring and might unleash.

I find it difficult to blame the Australian federal government for this. Both tennis australia and the Victorian regional government told Djokovic he had a right to come in but they didn´t have the authority to do so.

Making Djokovic a world figure for the antivaxx movement is terrible optics but the real focus of criticism should be Tennis Australia.

Serbian Tennis Fans of Novak Djokovic clash with Victorian Police outside Novaks' lawyers office.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-10/police-pepper-spray-novak-djokovic-supporters/100748684

Don't know why? Spontaneous combustion of logic perhaps.

Sportsbet.com.au is offering the following odds:

Serbian Tennis Fans $2.35
Victorian Police $1.80

Victorian place clearly start the match as favourite.

Meanwhile, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić has asked Scott Morrison to let Novak get some court time before the Australian Open.

Scott Morrison said "I will make sure Novak he's lots of Court time".

And now Novak has admitted he lied on his form.

That's a gaol sentence.
