AN ACT
To one-up Lincoln with regards to iconic Frémont literature

Be it enacted by the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Frémont assembled,
Quote
Section 1. Title

This legislation may be cited as the Frémont is Dreadnought Country Act.

Section 2. Dreadnought In English Class

2. English II students in Frémont shall read Sovereign as part of their curriculum.
3. Until the release of the as of yet untitled and unreleased sequel to Sovereign colloquially known as Dreadnought 3, English III/IV students (the classes shall be held back-to-back with the same teacher and students in the same year until the release of Dreadnought 3) in Frémont, alongside their non-Dreadnought curriculum, shall spend the first half of their curriculum (English III) writing short stories (at least seven pages long, double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman) that represent what they think might happen in Dreadnought 3, taking advice from what Ms. Daniels has confirmed from the book if they need it. Peer review of these short stories shall be part of the second half of the curriculum (English IV).
4. Upon the release of Dreadnought 3, English IV students in Frémont shall read it as part of their curriculum.

To paraphrase our First Minister, the Nemesis trilogy features a young Frémonter trans protagonist (the first book's eponymous Dreadnought) who saves the world time and time again from the (Eastern-coded) evildoers. It is an important patriotic text and an allegory for our political situation in the past (2017 succession crisis but Truman is Danielle, and that's your Danielle becoming Dreadnought subplot), present (the Federalist establishment looks an awful lot like Danielle's parents: LT is Roger, Yankee is Janet), and future (piecing together this part is 2026 Peebs's problem). Every Frémonter should read it and pass it on to their children to read, and there's no reason Lincoln should be doing more to get their children to read it than Frémont. As such, I urge the members of Parliament to support this bill.

The Nemesis trilogy is one of the most important recent contributions to the canon of Western literature, ranking alongside the likes of Jack London and Teddy Roosevelt. It is vitally important that our young people should be exposed to our rich cultural heritage at an early age, and that must include the teaching of Dreadnought and its sequels. I do not believe this legislation should be so strict as to mandate specific essay lengths —that determination should be left to teachers. I wonder if we should not require these books be taught in middle school: as important as they are, should not our children encounter them as early as possible, in order to promote patriotism and support for equal rights?

Fair enough. I suppose my experiences are not universal and different kids may need different lengths to summarize their wild mass guessing on Dreadnought 3.

Another good point--I just figured it would be easier to stretch three books across four years of education as opposed to seven (assuming middle school is consistently 6-8), unless you wanted to teach all of them in middle school, of course.

Taking from Truman's concerns, here are some amendments. Not striking out the old and bolding the new because I'm lazy.

Quote from: The Frémont is Dreadnought Country Act

1. Seventh-grade English students in Frémont shall read Dreadnought as part of their curriculum.
2. Eighth-grade English students in Frémont shall read Sovereign as part of their curriculum.
3. Upon the release of Dreadnought 3, all high school English students in Frémont shall read it as part of their curriculum, and ninth-grade English students in Frémont shall read it as part of their curriculum afterwards.
4. For the 2022-23 school year alone, English students in eighth-grade and above in Frémont shall also read Dreadnought as part of their curriculum, and all high school students shall also read Sovereign as part of their curriculum.

Section 3. Addenda

1. A 33-foot tall statue (6:1 scale) with the likeness of Dreadnought is hereby commissioned to be put up in Tacoma.
2. Seattle Public Library shall receive five new copies of Sovereign.
3. $300 million of the surplus from the Frémont budget effective for Fiscal Year 2022 shall be set aside to fund production of an adaptation of the Nemesis trilogy to film, in both a standard (~2 ˝ hours per film) and extended (~5 hours per film) form, with the former releasing first and the latter releasing about 3 years later.

Section 4. Enforcement

1. Section 2 shall take effect with the 2022-23 school year.
2. Section 3 shall take effect upon signature of the First Minister.
I could make the kids of the future wait years for Dreadnought 3 the way the kids of the present have, but no, I figure since Dreadnought and Sovereign both aim for grades 7-9, a back-to-back-to-back approach would be best. As such, I'm getting rid of the "fanfic year", instead allowing the kids to work on their own fanfiction.

EDIT: Forgot to change Section 4 (formerly 3), whoops.

EDIT #2: Said "f[inks] it" and put my idea for a third meme bill for my nerd sh**t into this one. I don't know much about what I want to do to present the movies in-universe, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
