just kill it, for "screw America/the military" reasons

just kill it, for "if a country can't get enough people to sign up to defend it, it doesn't deserve to keep being independent" reasons

#3
just kill it, for "we don't need it anymore" reasons

#4
just kill it, for other reasons

#5
add women so all adults have to sign up

#6
keep it the way it is, but force trans men to sign up too

Conscription is really, really bad! I think basically everyone on this thread is in agreement that it shouldn't happen and hopefully never will again in the US.

My point only was that if we ever do reinstate conscription, only drafting men in an era where there's WAY more gender equality and opportunity for women than there was in 1973, the last time we had a draft, is going to lead to some serious f***ed up impediments for men in careers. You want the highest levels of gender resentment in decades? That's how you're gonna get it. In 1973, women taking all the good entry level jobs while men are conscripted just wasn't a thing due to workplace discrimination. in a 2022 with conscription, it totally WILL be a thing.

It should be eliminated. However, so long as it exists, everyone should be required to register.

Yes. In the poll, mainly option 3. I oppose almost all wars, so I don't support (or see a need for conscription in those cases). If we couldn't fight in those wars by voluntary means, that's a pretty good indication that we shouldn't be in that war. Also if there were ever a justifiable war (risking surrendering to Hitler), there would be enough people voluntarily signing up.

The correct position. Military service should be volunteer
