Wallace-Nixon-Carter-Anderson-Mondale-Bush-Perot-Dole-Gore-Bush-Obama-Romney-Johnson-Trump voter.

A swing voter from New Mexico: they were somewhat racist and thought Nixon was too weak, so they supported Wallace, in 1972 they considered McGovern an extremist and backed Nixon - but in 1976 they liked the populist, moderate Jimmy Carter and were wary of the GOP after Watergate. In 1980, however, they backed Anderson because Reagan was too conservative and Jimmy Carter was weak on water issues (but they otherwise agreed with Carter). In 1984, they were irritated with a lot of Reagan's polciies and thus backed Mondale, but began to agree with Reagan during his second term and supported his more moderate VP, Bush, in 1988. In 1992 they were angry with Bush for the no taxes pledge being broken and supported Perot, because they did dislike Bill Clinton, a dislike that endured and culminated in their 1996 backing of Bob Dole. However, they began to get concerned about climate change in NM and backed Gore. In 2004, they were worried about national security after 9/11 and supported Bush. In 2008 they backed Obama despite McCain being from next-door AZ because they were angry with the GOP over the recession. In 2012, suspicious of Obamacare, they backed Romney. Since then they have been somewhat right-of-centre. They preferred Trump over Clinton in 2016 but supported New Mexican Johnson that year since a.) he was from NM and b.) this voter is somewhat libertarian. In 2020, however, they liked Trump's presidency and supported him.
