18.  No way should it be any higher.  If you can be asked to sign up for the military draft at 18, you can have a beer.

Underage drinking should not itself be a crime on the part of the underage person, but the age for furnishing alcohol to someone outside one's family should be 18.

Abolishing it would be good.

In theory, I believe alcohol should be illegal.  While some people can use alcohol responsibly, there's no question society would be better if alcohol were to disappear.  In practice, however, the revolt that banning alcohol would cause isn't worth it.  But, conditional on it being legal, I think having it at 21 instead of 18 actually does more harm than good.

Plus, I think young adults being treated like children for too long has led to a lack of maturity.  The fact that people are waiting until their late 20s or 30s to get married and have kids is a problem (and I recognize that, being 25 and unmarried, I'm not helping the statistics myself).

People are not waiting until their 30s to get married and have kids because of "lack of maturity", lol. This is literally what happens in every country as the population gets richer and more urban. Having kids early is for people with nothing to live for in their own life.

Yup, pretty good take. Additionally, more young people tend to start an actual job later as more and more of them seek a higher education or take the opportunity to spend a year abroad. Not having kids before you can actually make sure to have the financial ressources is a sign of maturity and not the opposite.

Agree on the maturity aspect, but children are the only thing to live for in life. All other paths to fulfillment will ultimately leave man empty. Very cringe movement by PMC people in denial who think they are oppressed because their child-free DINK life isn't the normal position and they refuse to grow-up.

Earth to Sprouts: Not everyone wants to have--or should have--children.  I for one can't stand them.  If that makes me "immature," so be it.  Live and let live.

Having kids early is for people with nothing to live for in their own life.

This is a really misanthropic framing, although it does have the virtue of making the rest of the post seem significantly more fascistic and thus on-brand.

18 for beer and wine, a little higher (20 maybe) for hard alcohol.

18. If you can vote, be considered a legal adult, or be forced to register for the draft (if you are male), you should be allowed to have an alcoholic beverage, goddamnit
