Worker or not, Children to elderly, every American without a proven history of allergies to any of the vaccine's ingredients must get the vaccine by a certain deadline. No religious exemptions. Anyone who fails to get the vaccine by the deadline may face a number of sanctions including eviction, higher taxes or even prosecution.

Singapore's government declared that anyone who refused to take the vaccine by choice, and who required hospitalization due to the virus, would have to pay for their own hospital bill. That policy did lead to a surge in vaccinations. But, such a rule will damage the principle that health care is free for everyone at the point of use (where it exists).

This reminds me of Zizek's half-ironic pining for the days of old Yugoslavia, when there was no discussion of "freedom" or "choice" and every Yugoslav citizen lined up to get pricked in the arm or else. Perhaps that kind of authoritarianism is more honest than a piecemeal approach where you can "choose" not to be vaccinated but then will be excluded from society in certain ways.

I oppose any punitive measures, but do think people should get vaccinated. The government should provide convincing incentives to do so.

No, I don't, but I expected there to at least be some sort of a compromise.  Like, I would at least pause to consider (though probably ultimately reject) a vaccine mandate coupled with an immediate ending of all covid testing, mandates, and quarantines (and a law that no person or business may ask another person to put on a mask, take a covid test, or stay home when not feeling well).

That would be unconstitutional and unenforceable in any liberal democracy. I like vaccines as much as anyone, but this isn't the way to get shots in arms.
