This wasn't originally going to be a timeline, but became a mini timeline. In this scenario, Hitler was an American who gained fame by having a small but significant role in the RNC. Despite running for statewide office at least once and losing, he manages to pursuade the party to nominate him over Hoover in 1932.

Going against my original intent, I did want to follow up. After Hitler's suicide in 1945, general Dwight D. Eisenhower as well as members of the armed forces sets up a coup in order to prevent vice chancellor William Pelley from seizing power. The coup which was supported by allied countries and The Soviet Union, kills Pelley and imprisons Hitler's cabinet, as well as those involved with the concentration camps. While some critics were calling for the imprisonment of all of Hitler's supporters, Eisenhower declines to "fight fire with fire" and instead focuses on restoring democracy, law, and order into this country. Eisenhower is able to clean up what Hitler destroyed, leading to various elections to fill in vacated congressional seats. He also reestablishes the illegal Democratic Party, and forms a new Conservative Party, which was supposed to model the Christian Democratic movement of Italy, however Hitler's supporters complicate his goal of reform. Eisenhower establishes the first election to take place on November 2, 1948, where he runs against Illinois governor Adlai Stevenson. Despite Eisenhower's attempts to end Jim Crow laws, the Supreme Court struck down Eisenhower's efforts in a 7-2 decision, as many of them were still sympathetic to Hitlerism. Against Eisenhower's wishes, many Dixiecrats joined his party as a lesser of two evils against the Democrats, as they went further on support of civil rights. Eisenhower narrowly loses to Adlai in 1948, although he becomes president for a second time in 1952. The rest of the timeline continues similarly to OTL, only without Wallace running in '68.

1956 onwards is similar to OTL, only with Mississippi going to Nixon in '60 and the Wallace states going to Nixon in 1968, except for the changes below.

Some relatively minor changes
1960: Nixon chooses John Butler as his running mate instead of Henry Cabot, as with the exception of Eisenhower, Hitler's base made it close to impossible for a moderate/liberal to be nominated at the national level until the aftermath of the Watergate era. The electoral map doesn't change and Kennedy wins Maryland.
1964: Barry Goldwater chooses Strom Thurmond as his running mate and flips Idaho and Florida.
1976: Bob Dole was appointed VP instead of Ford and chooses John Rhodes as his running mate. Bob Dole goes on to lose to Jimmy Carter without an electoral vote difference.
1992: Pat Buchanan successfully primaries George HW Bush and chooses senator Trent Lott to be his running mate. They go on to lose to Clinton. The electoral map is similar to OTL, with only Georgia flipping. Perot never reenters the race after dropping out and his vote is evenly split between Clinton and Buchanan.
1996: Perot declines to run again.  Dick Cheney is the nominee as he runs instead of Dole. He chooses Donald Rumsfeld as his running mate and flips AZ+NV. Likewise Clinton wins Indiana, so the electoral college count is the same.
2000: John McCain wins the nomination with W. declining to run. While Lieberman was his first choice, Lieberman already accepted being Gore's running mate, although there were rumors that Lieberman voted for McCain despite being on Gore's ticket. McCain ends up choosing Arkansas govenror Mike Huckabee as his running mate with only NM flipping in 2000 and McCain keeping NH in 2004.
2008: Huckabee goes on to lose the presidency on his own terms in 2008 to Obama. He chooses Tim Pawlenty to be his running mate. The electoral map is the same as our 2012 timeline.
2012: No electoral difference, but there were plenty of rumors that Obama rigged the election, as he won the same states that he did in 2008, although he did slightly worse with the PV and the county map was slightly different in some states. Businessman Donald Trump became the main actor in the "Stop the Steal" movement which took place in the aftermath of the 2012 election. Despite protests and some mass demonstration, both Romney and Ryan took the wind out of their sails when they publicly denounced the movement and any associated rumors.
