Ukrainian soldiers begin training on M1 Abrams tanks in Germany:

Quote
About 200 of the troops — roughly one armored battalion — on Friday began conducting what the military calls combined arms instruction at training ranges in Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany, Lt. Col. Garron Garn, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.

That instruction includes basic soldiering tasks like marksmanship and medical skills, along with training at platoon and company levels, and eventually larger exercises involving battalion-size units facing off against one another.

The other 200 Ukrainian soldiers began training on how to fuel and maintain the tanks, Colonel Garn said.

Defense Department officials had previously said that about 31 tanks would be sent to Germany to be used in a training program for Ukrainian troops that is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks. Combat-ready tanks could reach the battlefields in Ukraine by the fall, the officials have said.

Russians advanced a few kilometers on the left bank of the Oskil' (Kharkiv Oblast). This comes after a few days ago they seized Masiutivka. DeepstateUA also confirmed it, in it's latest log.

To anybody posting on or monitoring this thread, it is becoming increasingly clear that Russia has *domestically* become the most repressive and authoritarian state through it's actions in a manner which has not been experienced for well over (40) years ago.

Can't quote it all, but tons more in the article.

Reality is that although the nature of a modern "Authoritarian" system is designed to carefully control dissident opinions, Russia is increasingly moving more towards the realm of a totalitarian society, the like of which we have not seen in Russia for many decades.

Quote
Parishioners have denounced Russian priests who advocated peace instead of victory in the war on Ukraine. Teachers lost their jobs after children tattled that they opposed the war. Neighbors who bore some trivial grudge for years have snitched on longtime foes. Workers rat on one another to their bosses or directly to the police or the Federal Security Service.

This is the hostile, paranoid atmosphere of Russians at war with Ukraine and with one another. As Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime cracks down on critics of the war and other political dissenters, citizens are policing one another in an echo of the darkest years of Joseph Stalin’s repression, triggering investigations, criminal charges, prosecutions and dismissals from work.

Private conversations in restaurants and rail cars are fair game for eavesdroppers, who call police to arrest “traitors” and “enemies.” Social media posts, and messages — even in private chat groups — become incriminating evidence that can lead to a knock on the door by agents of the Federal Security Service of FSB.

The effect is chilling, with denunciations strongly encouraged by the state and news of arrests and prosecutions amplified by propagandist commentators on federal television stations and Telegram channels. In March last year, Putin called on the nation to purge itself by spitting out traitors “like gnats.” He has since issued repeated dark warnings about internal enemies, claiming that Russia is fighting for its survival.

Since the invasion began, at least 19,718 people have been arrested for their opposition to the war, according to legal rights group OVD-Info, with criminal cases launched against 584 people, and administrative cases mounted against 6,839. Many others faced intimidation or harassment from the authorities, lost jobs, or had relatives targeted, the organization said. According to rights group Memorial, there are 558 political prisoners now being held in Russia.

Quote
The flood of denunciations has made public spaces dangerous. Classrooms are among the riskiest, particularly during the state-sanctioned Monday morning class, “Conversations about important things,” when teachers lecture students about the war on Ukraine, Russia’s militaristic view of history, and other topics set by the state.

In Russia, there is an attack on culture, not yet comparable to the "Great Cultural Revolution", but taking the first steps in this direction. Singer Alla Pugachova, who was equal to Madonna in terms of popularity and career duration inside Russia, was forced to flee the country. Legendary rock musicians, who have not lost popularity since the eighties and nineties, began to be boycotted, banned from performing and also forced to leave the country due their anti-war position.

By the way, the world-famous modern band Little Big was also forced to leave Russia and lost everything that it had accumulated over many years of its difficult ascent. They have a song that sums it up well:

Так, в частности, законом запрещается распространение информации, которая содержится «в информационной продукции, произведенной иностранным агентом», среди несовершеннолетних. Такие печатные материалы будет необходимо маркировать «18+»; в книжных магазинах, киосках и торговых точках их можно будет распространять только в запечатанной непрозрачной упаковке, а в организациях для детей они будут запрещены.

This is an excerpt from an article on the website of the Russian Parliament, here is the translation:
Quote
Thus, in particular, the law prohibits the dissemination of information contained in “information products produced by a foreign agent” among minors. Such printed materials will need to be labeled "18+";  in bookstores, kiosks and retail outlets, they can only be distributed in sealed opaque packaging, and in organizations for children they will be prohibited.

The status of a foreign agent does not mean at all that a person is a foreigner or works for foreigners. Usually this is just a negative Ruscists label for Russians for their sanity.

Due to sanctions in Russia, it is difficult to find suitable packaging, so books are usually wrapped in paper or plastic wrap. In bookstores, sellers often simply do not put these books on the shelves, since this is the easiest way to rid yourself of snitches.

It is very important for the Ruscists that the ban on books does not resemble die Bücherverbrennung. Ruscists can act like fascists as much as they like, zigging, rewriting history, drawing kolovrats everywhere, mixing Orthodox extremism with neo-paganism, attacking other countries for no reason, exterminating civilians, stealing thousands of Ukrainian children, and so on, but so far their state avoids purely formal similarities with the German Nazis, they think that they are fighters against fascism.

Well the good thing there is that the original Cultural Revolution didn't last that long, was afterwards seen as a disaster, and its architects discredited if not actually put on trial.
