Fwiw the overland route now is actually to Germany. Better infrastructure.

Grain of salt but there apparently rumblings on Ukraine and Russia telegram channels that Ukraine had a breakthrough near Davydiv Brid in the Kherson region

It would make sense to use the Siverski Donetsk River as a defensive line, it separates Lysychansk from Severodonetsk.

That would make sense.
Make no mistake though, that this is motivated mainly by Boris' political problems at home, most likely. Not to detract from it too much of course. It would most likely be decent if this goes ahead, because Ukraine having some sort of defensive alliance is very much logical for them.

The meandering new frontline between the two arrows on the map is the Inhulets River. It eventually discharges into the Dnieper River 17 kilometers upstream of Kherson. I'm assuming the gray colored area on the map is what has been (claimed as) recaptured.

Obviously this is not unexpected, but good to see him also acknowledging it. Regaining Crimea and some parts of the Donbas is not feasible in the near future, but that still leaves a lot of occupied territory the Ukrainians can and should focus on.
