Someone who isn’t motivated by maximizing the profits of gun manufacturers and supports “common sense” regulations such as expanded background checks (this is something the majority of regular NRA members also support).

A more socially liberal individual for whom guns are more of a hobby than a lifestyle (mUH guNz)

They probably just joined the NRA to get discounts on ammo/range visits. A friend I know in Vermont did the same thing and he voted McCain/Obama/abstained/Biden. I know I considered it for a while until Sandy Hook happened...

Some gun owner who lives in a rural area in a not too red state or trending D area, pissed off over Trump's mishandling of COVID-19, response to mass shootings prior to that, someone who is not into the "what about Chicago" trope popularized by Trump and right wing media. Someone who favors more background checks and called the NRA a cult now

My neighbor growing up loathes Trump and is a lifelong NRA member. I think he voted McMullin in 2016 but Biden this time.

Here's a few:

1. A veteran who was offended by Trump's "suckers & loser" remark.
2. A diehard McCain and/or Bush supporter who was offended by Trump's comments (this person likely didn't vote for Trump in 2016 either).
3. An elderly person who's otherwise a standard Republican but was offended by how Trump handled Covid.
4. A gun owner from Delaware who wanted to support their former senator.

My high school history teacher. Fiftysomething white man from rural Missouri, but somehow he's about as partisan hack D as you can get.

(Edit: To be clear, I'm not assuming this, he actually said at one point in class that he was a NRA member).

Governor Howard Dean had a good NRA record in Vermont. Bernie Sanders voted against the 1993 Brady Bill and had a decent NRA record.

Yep yep. It’s only a fairly recent phenomenon of the NRA being de facto Republican

My dad for sure. He only joined because it was a requirement for a gun club he joined. He’s interested in the history, the manufacturing, etc, but only owns a hunting rifle himself. Gave him a chance to talk about, see and shoot antique and rare firearms. He adamantly opposes the NRA as a political arm, though, particularly after the Russia stuff came out a few years back.

Someone motivated to maximize the profits of gun manufacturers would want the Democratic candidate in office.

IIRC, there's a local radio host here in Seattle who's a member of the NRA (or who at least once was a member of the NRA) to get a better sense of how the group operates and for general journalistic purposes, but who is otherwise a normal liberal. So there may be at least one, even if his case is pretty unique.

They wouldn't be an NRA member, frankly there are vanashingly few people who are going to fit this bill other than some very old people who forgot to cancel their membership or very politicaly unengaged people.

Plenty of gun owners voted democrat, but the NRA is a right-wing republican lobby group. It's like asking if any planned parenthood worker voted republican.

This. A lot of Vermonters (including, formerly, Pete Welch) support guns, but for shooting animals, not people. Also there are enough Democrats who are for gun rights, just as there are enough Republicans who are for gun control. Congress doesn't represent this that much since moderates are underrepresented and distributed throughout the districts.

This is why Bernie had a relatively pro-gun record that I wish he’d been more unapologetic about when running for president. I don’t agree with it but I do think it would have been a good way of showing their was actually an issue he was more moderate and pragmatic then other Democrats on and it could have poked a hole in their electability argument.

NRA fundraiser who cynically believes that they'll get more money with a Democrat in office.

No, it would have hurt him. Most of the gun-obssessed crackpots who might care about his pro-gunness would back Trump over him anyway. Guns is one of the issues the GOP is most wrong on, along with COVID19, the environment and the election results / January 6.

They probably live in the DFW suburbs, are older, and were mad at Trump over covid.

"Guns is one of the issues the GOP is most wrong on"

LOL wrong. One of the handful of issues they're good on.
