I am beginning to think the Colorado delagation could change from majority R to majority D if Democrats can win the open seats in CO-5 and CO-7 then knock off Marilyn Musgrave in CO-4.  Its doubtful, but not impossible.  No Democrat has won this seat since it was created in 1972.

A Democrat winning in this district would be like a Republican winning in an inner city New York district.
How bad a candidate is Lamborn?

I wouldn't go that far.  After all, if the Democrats were to win the CD, it would only be the 3rd or 4th most Republican CD (Bush 2004 numbers) that they would hold.  (MS-04 and TX-17 are more, for sure, I think there's another one too)

Actually, it's not that he's a terrible candidate, he has simply tried to piss off every Republican office-holder in the CD, most importantly retiring Rep. Joel Hefley, who supported his opponent in the primary, got really mad about some of Lamborn's really nasty primary advertising in the campaign and has still refused to endorse him for the election.

If you notice, most of the key undecided vote is Republican here.  I have had the CD on my watch list for quite a while now; this poll puts it up to lean R and maybe on the big list.  The undecided Republican factor is what keeps me from pushing it any further.

I don't see Fawcett winning this, but earning around 45% - which he appears on-target for - would be impressive here anyway.

I thought the Democrats needed only one seat to accomplish that?

Yes.

Democrats control:

* 1st (Denver)
* 2nd (Boulder area)
* 3rd (western and southern Colorado, excluding southeast corner)

Republicans control:

* 4th (eastern Colorado)
* 5th (Colorado Springs area)
* 6th (southern Denver suburbs)
* 7th (inner, non-southern Denver suburbs and Adams County)
