So, cannabis is no longer illegal federally and all three regions have legalized its production and both medical and recreational usage.

But employers are still allowed to use drug tests as a condition of employment, irrespective of the workers' productivity or an exemplary career. It is simply a violation of workers' privacy to demand drug tests as a condition of employment, and while I would like to see the practice banned, at the federal level we ought to prohibit all federal funds for the use of drug testing.

I hope we can all agree that a good worker should not be judged by their use of (mostly legal) drugs, but by what and how they contribute to their place of employment.

Would another senator care to comment? Anything?

Is this including private healthcare programs too?

Assuming you are referring to private programs testing clients, no, this bill doesn't actually prohibit that (or drug testing at all, in fact); it merely prohibits the use of public funds for it.

Scott's early resignation kind of caught me off guard.

Is their need to find a new sponsor or should we just move to a final vote?

Due to the current pace of things, I thought it would be best to wait until the next session. Eight people missed the last vote.

I apologize for not PMing you about this ahead of time, but I did announce the other night that I would be resigning after the TMTH Act passed.

If this bill fails, it will be reintroduced in the presidential slot. The lack of substantive debate on this bill is unacceptable and a failure on the part of the Senate. Objections should be raised prior to the vote.

Don't the companies typically fund the drug tests as it is.

I get the desired objective, but I am uncertain if this materially effects the situation. Atlascare covers individuals so unless the person is required to pay for it themselves or cover it with in insurance, I don't see how Atlas care is even relevant to the matter.

I am still open to voting Aye if this can be further explained.

The bill simply imposes a Hyde Amendment-like rule on federal funds for drug testing. Drug testing, which I assumed was covered by health care plans, is not something we should expect the taxpayer to foot the bill for.

Would the PPT/DPPT sign this and include the vote tally before I sign it please?
