Would Rick Santorum have won Elliott county?

Quite possibly. It only went to Obama by plurality in real life, and that was partly because Obama was preceived as being a working man's candidate, whereas Romney was seen as a heartless businessman. Social issues didn't come up much and the debate was more economic, so Elliott County (socially conservative and economically centre-left) stayed Democratic. Had Santorum, a much better fit for Elliott County because of his emphasis on social conservatism and his background as an evangelical conservative, been the nominee and continued to emphasize those points, Elliott County might just have flipped Republican, though if so, then definitely by single digits.
