I choose Aisle over wing exits.

Definitely prefer window seats. It's nice to have something to look out at every once in a while during a flight (even if you're sitting over a wing).

Window. I have long arms and they often get bumped by people walking through the aisles or the flight attendant drink cart.

Aisle. I'm too claustrophobic for anything else. I like to know I can get up and move any time without having to crawl over people. The view of the clouds gets old pretty fast so window seat isn't really worth it. Only problem with the aisle seat is if the aisle itself is too narrow so people walking by bump into you. But otherwise it's the best.

Obviously anything is better than the middle seat...

Window. I'm pretty short, so legroom has not been an issue, and I like having a wall on one side instead of more people. It feels somehow more private.

I don't fly in poverty class, so I don't have to choose.

Window if its a situation where I could conceivably sleep (pretty much only overnight transatlantic eastbound flights or the rare redeye flight to or from the west coast).

Aisle otherwise.

When I was a kid, I preferred the window for the views. As an adult, I now prefer the aisle solely as a matter of practicality.

Window on trains, aisles on planes, ambivalent on buses.

Window. The extra room for aisle seats is sometimes a bit nice but doesn't really do much for me - super cramped either way in standard/non exit row economy seats. On the other hand being able to look outside helps with airsickness a lot.

I prefer window seats by far. The fact that almost all people here have aeroplanes in mind when answering the question (whereas I have trains) is oddly revealing.

Window always, I like to look out and see the view regardless of train or bus.

Most wide body first class configurations are 2-3-2, occasionally 2-2-2 and on narrowbodies 2-2. I’m not sure what you mean by not having to choose?

As a person who is fat, but also who is quite tall and with a large frame, aisle seats are much more comfortable, since I have a little more space and I'm more easily able to avoid impinging on my seatmates. I also have a mild fear of heights which makes sitting in the window a little unpleasant sometimes.

The only good part about window seats is being able to observe the ground below--I was once able to identify Kent Island, MD from above, and it was cool to see a place which I had just known from maps right in front of me.

I prefer window seats by far. The fact that almost all people here have aeroplanes in mind when answering the question (whereas I have trains) is oddly revealing.

In fairness, most American long-distance passenger trains are much more comfortable than planes, with large seats and lots of legroom, which makes the window seat a much more obvious choice.

Of course, there is the option of buses, but the answer for that is pretty obvious too--window if it's not crowded, but if you have to share the seat, aisle. A rare bonus of living in a pretty transit-unfriendly area is that the only bus I regularly take rarely is crowded enough to make me share a seat with someone else.

Window seats because you can look out and see the view.

Aisle

I flew a 14 hour international flight back in 2018. My fat American self sat window going there. I go to the bathroom when I am nervous or uncomfortable, which I very much was. Going over someones legs was a nightmare. I made sure to have aisle on the way back

Window.  I usually don’t have to go on flights.
