A South Dakotan who loves to support candidates from the Great Plains area.

Or perhaps a progressive who voted for McGovern but cast a protest vote for Dole because Clinton was too moderate and compromising.

I know such people.  They were antiwar kids with a low draft number whose conservative leanings developed as they aged.

A liberal ancestral Republican who really hates Southerners and hated Nixon's dog whistling. Given the chose between Bush and Gore, they probably go with Gore, but definitely vote Dem from 2004 onwards.

Very interesting and close to how I'd imagine such voters to be as well.

A South Dakotan who supported McGovern due to his "native son" status in 1972, but is otherwise loyally Republican, and last voted Democratic for McGovern.
