Idris Elba is probably too old now. If the film was made today, he'd do a great job but they'll want somebody who could stick around and be convincing in the role for a decade or so. Tom Hardy could be interesting. On the other hand I kind of like the idea of them picking a relative unknown for the role so that their existing persona doesn't distract from the character, who is so larger than life.
would be a good option then -he is relatively handsome, young (only around thirty), and is already an accomplished actor and writer.
