With Daniel Craig's time as the legendary MI6 agent coming to an end, it's time to speculate on who'll succeed him in the iconic role.

Some rumored names:
-Rege-Jean Page
-Henry Cavill
-Tom Hardy
-Cillian Murphy
-Idris Elba
-Richard Madden
-Tom Hiddleston
-Henry Golding

So who should take over?

No one.

James Bond should be canceled, because of #MeToo.

It is so difficult to choose -I like them all! Although I am gravitating to Idris Elba -or- Richard Madden.  Henry Cavill is another very good option, although I think he should stick to the Witcher series for the time being.

Every new actor cast as James Bond essentially reboots the franchise though. If there were a new one I would expect the films to be a bit more progressive to keep up with the times.

In fact, from what I've heard about 'No Time to Die,' Craig's Bond progresses a bit in the womanizing facet compared to the previous films. So those in charge of the franchise are aware, it seems.

Back on topic, all of those Roll Roons listed are great choices, but I wouldn't mind seeing a person of color take over the role for the first time.

Idris Elba is probably too old now. If the film was made today, he'd do a great job but they'll want somebody who could stick around and be convincing in the role for a decade or so. Tom Hardy could be interesting. On the other hand I kind of like the idea of them picking a relative unknown for the role so that their existing persona doesn't distract from the character, who is so larger than life.

Daniel Kaluuya would be a good option then -he is relatively handsome, young (only around thirty), and is already an accomplished actor and writer.

Why should a nonwhite person play a white man?

James Bond is a white man.

Won't that be cultural appropriation?

They should just keep wheeling Craig out for "one more" for the simple reason that he's just that great in the role. Barring that, Idris Elba would've been a great pick 10 years ago, but he's probably a bit too old to take the role on as a multi-year, franchise-level commitment now. Henry Cavill would be really good too, especially since he was the runner-up to Craig for Casino Royale when he was only 21 compared - at the time - to Craig being 38, which is exactly how old Cavill is right now. In any event, though, they really need to press forward with the modernization of the character as a reflection of society rather than an homage to history that began with Craig's casting. His Bond was good precisely because it was a fascinatingly different take on the role in comparison to the suave, smooth-talking Bonds of yesteryear's eras.

Anyway of these I like Henry Cavill the most. It is worth pointing out though that though it sounds odd Bond can be a not very desirable role for established actors due to the high level of commitment required above any other roles and some odd contractual obligations, like not being allowed to appear in a non-Bond film in a tux. So we'll see. It might be someone not as well known like Craig initially was.

James Bond's canon resets every time. There is even the theory that the name itself is a code name given to different agents over the years-new 007 agents, which 'No Time to Die' features a female version of after Bond retires in the movie.

We're not talking about casting a person of color for a Frank Siantra biopic or anything. I mean, come on!

That last part was just a low blow. You KNEW that would set off bronz more than anything else, and you said it anyway!

Are you going to talk about Captain America being black too? I’d like to see what you have to say about that.

Tom Hardy would definitely be a different kind of Bond:  messy, eccentric and a little bit more chaotic, definitely not your grandfather's clean-shaven, suit-and-tie Bond.  That type of character would do much more to update the series than simply casting the old Bond tropes onto Elba or Page would.

Henry Cavill is the most dashing man on this list, and definitely the Bond I would be the most interesting in watching.  But I doubt the franchise goes that direction...it would all just seem a bit, Ummm, regressive?

Someone not on this list I think would be an interesting choice:  Riz Ahmed.  It's a solid talent decision (Ahmed is incredible in Sound of Metal) that also gets to play with some aspects of a new, multicultural English identity that Ahmed himself explores in his music.

Rege-Jean Page would be mad sexy.  So yes, I can totally see him becoming a new James Bond for a new decade (the 20s) - young, hot, buff, black, and badass.

Douglas Hodge, playing the role in a similar manner to the way he played Velementov in The Great.

If we absolutely have to have another James Bond (which I disagree with), my vote would be for Tom Holland or Daniel Radcliffe.

Nothing prepares you for a role like 007 than starring in other blockbusters, so hiring Holland (currently Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the MCU), or Radcliffe (who has the marquee role of being Harry Potter on a very decorated resume) would be great choices.

Between the two of them, I'd prefer Radcliffe.

He's young enough at 32 to do the role for 15-20 years without being too young like Holland (who is 25), has big budget movie experience (all seven Harry Potter films), experience in the highbrow world of Broadway (Equus, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), and can bring back the tone of the Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan movies without descending into Moore and Brosnan eras's level of campiness, as he has pretty good comedic timing.

Also, if Ralph Fiennes stays on as M, we can make all the jokes about Voldemort and Harry Potter being coworkers that we want.

He could write and perform the theme tune for one of the movies, like Adele and Sam Smith.

I can't picture her as 007, maybe because I still see her as Hermione Granger, but Emma Watson would probably be the perfect Q, if they decide to replace Ben Wishaw.
