This legislation shall be cited as the Continuing Resolution - September '21.

Section 2. Extension of FY2020 budget

1. Upon passage of this act, the FY2020 budget shall be extended indefinitely.

2. This act shall expire upon enactment of the 2021 budget.

Last year's budget expires in five days. If we fail to pass a budget or a CR, the government will shut down. Obviously the budget is not going to be completed in five days. But we need to pass this resolution to keep the government open. This is the first bill I have ever placed in the "National Emergencies" category.

I am motioning to suspend the rules and proceed to a final vote in 24 hours, barring objections.

Obviously I support this measure, though I am not thrilled with indefinite extension, my worry as such is that will remove any incentive to complete the real budget, at the same time we have blown through multiple CRs in previous cycles so it does have its benefits and positives in that sense.

Well, that's pretty much been RL Congress's way of doing things. Tongue I don't like the indefinite extension either, but unfortunately we need the flexibility.
