He didn’t stand up to Trump. He stabbed Trump in the back after getting his complete and total endorsement by voting in an impeachment trial which even Collin Peterson agreed was unjustified and another one which was blatantly unconstitutional since the Chief Justice didn’t preside

Romney was advocating a significant military buildup in order to counter an increasingly second-rate power. So Obama was absolutely correct. However, what Obama didn't anticipate was that Republicans would elect a traitor compromised by Russian money/assistance. Unfortunately, additional aircraft carriers don't mitigate cyber threats, or the moral depravity of the GOP base. So Russia is still quite weak militarily, even if Republicans are eager to betray the rest of us to a hostile foreign power. But I'm not sure what you can realistically hope to accomplish when a bunch of Boomer facebook trolls are currently in the process of sacrificing their own lives on the altar of Trumpism and horse dewormer.
